Isfahan siteFinally, after two years of buying time, deception and
gaining major political, economic and security concessions from the
European Union, the religious, terrorist dictatorship ruling Iran, in a
blatant breach of the Paris Accord, formally resumed nuclear work at
Isfahan UCF site.
At the same time, new President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appointed a former
Revolutionary Guards Commander Ali Larijani as the Secretary of the
Supreme National Security Council, put him in charge of the nuclear
file as the chief negotiator with the EU.

By John Hughes
The recent election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a hard-liner, is
widely interpreted as a move by the mullahs to consolidate their power.
Mrs. Rajavi calls him a "terrorist" who, she says. was involved in an
attempt to assassinate Salman Rushdie and other enemies of the Iranian
regime.
She dismisses the election as a sham, manipulated by
"vote-buying," and the issuing of "5 million fake identity cards," and
"$15 million to the Revolutionary Guards to produce fake ballots." But
she thinks the regime is on the defensive, operating from an "emaciated
base," and therefore vulnerable to a newly aggressive policy by the
West. |

Platform
Maryam Rajavi
The clerical regime's social base of support has never been so thin.
But the mullahs did not have many options. Rafsanjani's presidency
would not have resolved any of the acute crises it is facing. It would
have only expedited its disintegration.
This is a turning point, and the beginning of the final phase of the
clerical rule. Ayatollah Khamenei has done away with all
pretences. The practical message is more crackdowns, greater
pursuit of nuclear weapons, and increased meddling in Iraq and elsewhere

Maryam Rajavi's video message to the London Conference
titled "Iran Hardliners in power - Iranian Resistance and EU
policy under UK Presidency"
By putting a Revolutionary Guards commander at the helm of the
executive, the clerical regime's Supreme Leader completed the
Revolutionary Guards' grip on the levers of power.
For the first time in the past 26 years of theocratic rule in Iran, all
power has been consolidated in the hands of one faction. Weakened and
facing acute crises, the ayatollahs could longer tolerate the very
factions with whom it had shared power. Their powerbase has shrunk
further.
