Senator Jean-Pierre Michel, member of the Socialist Group in French
Senate, met with Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian
Resistance, at her residence in Auvers-sur-Oise on Thursday, March 3,
2005
Dr. Saleh Rajavi, the representative of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) in France, also attended the meeting.
In reiterating his solidarity with the Iranian Resistance, Senator
Michel said, "It is imperative that French and European
Parliamentarians as well as decision makers become aware of NCRI's
positions in such an exceptionally sensitive situation in Iran and the
whole region". He added, "The third option; democratic change by the
people of Iran and the Iranian Resistance, in contrast to a foreign war
or appeasing policy, is an option which democratic forces in France and
across Europe have to take".

Senator Michel, who was held senior positions in the Judiciary prior to
becoming a senator, pointed to the June 17, 2003 raid on the offices of
the NCRI, noting, "The trend of events has shown that the file is
completely empty from evidence to support the allegations". He added
that the inclusion of the People's Mojahedin in the list of terrorist
organizations lacked any legal basis and devoid of any judicial value.
"Today, it is clear to everyone that those claims by the Iranian government are nothing but a mirage," Senator Michel said.
While expressing gratitude for Senator's Michel's support for the
Iranian people and Resistance, Mrs. Rajavi stressed the need to draw
the attention of the international community to the mullahs' efforts to
acquire nuclear weapons and export fundamentalism. She added that the
policy of appeasing the mullahs had reached a deadlock. This policy has
resulted in nothing but encouraging this regime to violate the most
rudimentary rights of the Iranian people, Mrs. Rajavi said.
