For many Iranians chafing under the repressive rule of radical Islamist
clerics, Maryam Rajavi has come to represent a beacon of hope. A
veteran of almost three decades of struggle in defense of democracy and
human rights in Iran, she has expounded a modern, democratic and
secular interpretation of Islam that is diagonally opposed to Islamic
extremists and fundamentalists. Central to her outlook is the status
and rights of women, who are the biggest victims of the misogynous
fanatics.
This website has been launched by a group of Iranian scholars and
academics in exile, who believe Maryam Rajavi's views - an Islam based
on freedom, democracy, human rights and gender equality - are essential
as the world tries to overcome the challenge posed by Islamic
fundamentalism.
Our hope is to be able to familiarize the public and those interested
in such issues with the views and activities of Maryam Rajavi, although
this is not Mrs. Rajavi's official website. We wish to show that the
mullahs' regime is not the true face of Iran and that there is an
alternative to the religious dictatorship in our homeland.
We sincerely welcome your views and suggestions and hope you would find our website useful.
