Moving tributes at cathedral service for former Scottish Liberal leader

NEWS.scotsman.com, 12 August - LOCAL, national and international figures joined in tribute yesterday to the Liberal Democrat peer Lord Russell-Johnston of Minginish, who died last month. The former MP and Scottish Liberal Party leader died after collapsing in a Paris street on 27 July, the eve of his 76th birthday.

A memorial ceremony for the late Lord Russell-Johnston was held at the residence of Maryam Rajavi, president-elect of the Iranian Resistance, in Auvers-sur-Oise, north of Paris. Participants, including British parliamentarians, French dignitaries and many other French and Iranians expressed condolences to members of Lord Russell-Johnston's family in this ceremony. In a speech, Mrs. Rajavi paid tribute to this great friend of the Iranian Resistance.

 The Press Association, 5 August 2008 - A memorial service for the Liberal Democrat peer Lord Russell-Johnston has taken place in Paris.Family and friends paid tribute to the pro-European former MP at the service in the French capital, where he died last month.

His wife, Lady Joan Johnston and his three sons, Graham, David and Andrew, all attended the ceremony.

Italian ParliamentFollowing Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, trip to Italy, the mullahs' regime frantically attacked the Italian lawmakers for inviting her. Revolutionary Guards' commander, Hossein Shariatmadari, mullahs' Supreme leader Ali Khamenei's representative in the official daily Kayhan showed the most hysterical reaction when he called the members of the Italian parliament "Mafioso Italian regime."

Iran: Executions of political prisoners as thugs

T he mullahs' regime will hang a number of political prisoners among the announced 30 death row inmates scheduled for execution on Sunday. These political prisoners were arrested in the course of last summer's fuel uprisings in Iran. The ruling religious fascism will execute them as "thugs" on July 27.

Maryam Rajavi, President of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, speaking in a press conference in Rome, said: “The export of Islamic fundamentalism by the Iranian regime and Ahmadinejad is not just a threat to the Middle East, but an urgent threat throughout the entire Islamic countries and the world”. Rajavi added:“This threat is a hundred times more dangerous than the atomic bomb the mullahs’ regime is in the process of obtaining”.
