In her residence, in Auver sur Oise, North of Paris, during a gathering marking the Persian New Year, attended by a number of chairs, members and supporters of the Iranian Resistance, Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance congratulated the Iranian people in Iran and across the world, and the freedom fighters in Ashraf and Liberty and stated that without doubt the new year, will be the year of greater victories for the Iranian people and resistance and a year of major defeats for the mullahs’ regime. She added, in the past 3 decades, by enforcing the most atrocious suppression, the Mullahs’ regime has tried to bring our people to give in to silence and succumb to the regime. In efforts to maintain its power, with the aid of western governments and their policy of appeasement, and creation of a line of sham cases and baseless listings, they have placed the Iranian Resistance under siege. But despite all, by paying the highest price, the Iranian people’s freedom movement has never shifted from its ideal of freedom. This movement continues to fight for the overthrow of the Iranian regime, in efforts to create a free and democratic republic, on bases of freedom of choice and free elections. While referring to the brutal efforts of the Iranian regime and their Iraqi agents for the suppression and murder, blockade and force relocation of Ashraf residents, and also the international solidarity for Ashraf, Maryam Rajavi stressed that according to a number of personalities, dignitaries, analysts and intellectuals, not only is the fate of the PMOI in Ashraf and in Liberty tied to the future and fate of Iran and the region, but has a direct connection to world peace and security because of the confrontation due to the nuclear regime ruling in Iran. She added, as all the labels placed on this movement have fallen in Europe, in the US we are also witnessing the political and moral fall of the US State Departments listing against the PMOI. Without doubt the Iranian people and resistance and the steadfastness of Ashraf residents will put an end to these listings and yes, this will be declaration of war with the Mullahs’ dictatorship which has reached the end of its lifeline. Pointing to the regime’s tenure in the last year, including the arrest of students, lawyers, journalists, ex-political prisoners and the relatives of Ashraf residents; the execution of at least 670 people which has turned the number of executions to one of the highest in the past two decades; the embarrassment of the 300 billion Tuman embezzlement at the highest levels of the regime; the fall of Iranian currency to an unprecedented low in Iranian history; 35 percent rate of unemployment and 50 percent inflation rate, Maryam Rajavi stated, The theocratic regime, which is under the siege of extreme internal and external crises sees its only way out through a war with the international community and the people of the region and in particular against Ashraf residents and the resistance movement. But clearly the Iranian people, having a paradigm like the PMOI in Ashraf, which serve as a symbol of continuing the struggle for freedom and democracy in Iran at all costs; and with the solidarity of all sectors of the Iranian people, especially women and youth, the Iranian spring will flourish.
