Message for loss of a famous Iranian painter
Tuesday, 22 May 2012 00:00

On May 21, 2012, Mr. Bahram Alivandi, the celebrated and renowned Iranian painter and a member of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), who symbolized the rebellious spirit of Iranian art against dictatorship and religious fascism, passed away. He will no doubt be remembered and honored on victory day, when the Iranian people are free again and Iranian art will blossom.

In the aftermath of June 20, 1981, when the reign of terror began in Iran, master Alivandi rushed to the aid of the People’s Mojahedin, among them his two sons, who rose up against the mullahs and their Revolutionary Guards.

As a member of the NCRI and a strong, devoted and steadfast defender of Ashraf residents, he relentlessly fought against the dictatorship ruling Iran until the last day of his life.

Mr. Alivandi was one of the masters of modern Iranian art, combining oriental art with modern techniques. He created a treasure trove of thousands of different paintings, which reflected hope and honored the memory of the martyrs.

He was staunchly opposed to the religious fascism and had a heart full of compassion and love for justice.

I offer my condolences on the loss of this renowned artist to freedom fighters in camps Ashraf and Liberty who have lost a compassionate friend. I also offer my condolences to the Iranian Resistance’s Leader Massoud Rajavi.
