Message to demonstrators during Munich security conference

Maryam Rajavi: Iranian society is on the path of a democratic revolution, toward a democratic republic

Fellow compatriots, defenders of the Iranian people’s uprising,
I salute all of you who are the unquenchable voice of Iran’s uprising.
Your gathering carries the message of the thousands who were slain in the blood-soaked days of January. It reflects that unbroken line of courageous young men and women whose sacrifice revealed the true magnitude of the army of uprising. It represents the immense offering made by the Iranian people at the altar of freedom.
The ocean of blood spilled from the body of a nation yearning for liberty conveys three transformative messages.
First, it once again proves the Iranian people’s unwavering and irreversible determination to overthrow the regime in its entirety.
Second, it demonstrates that the path to this great change is organized uprising, in which rebellious youth and Resistance Units play a decisive role.
Third, Ali Khamenei has shown that he is prepared to commit the largest street massacres rather than relinquish the decaying foundations of the system of absolute clerical rule. There is only one way to compel this regime to dismantle its nuclear weapons program and its network of proxy militias in the region. That way is the overthrow of clerical rule by the Iranian people and their Resistance and organized uprising.
Allow me to recall another truth.
The remnants of the Shah’s dictatorship who seek to derail the uprising and exploit the blood and suffering of the people are laboring in vain. Iranian society is moving in the path of a democratic revolution and the establishment of a democratic republic. In that future, there is no place for those who already promise a new one-man autocracy, who would suppress and preserve the criminal institutions inherited from Khamenei’s rule.
A people who have paid such a terrible price for freedom and democracy, and the overthrow of a brutal religious tyranny, will never exchange it for the former monarchical dictatorship.
Fortunately, today our compatriots and the forces of the people’s front share common ground on the fundamental principles essential to Iran’s freedom:
• The slogan “No to the Shah, No to the Mullahs
Autonomy for oppressed nationalities within Iran’s territorial integrity
Separation of religion and state

Women’s equal rights in all political, economic and social arenas

Rejection of appeasement, rejection of war, and rejection of foreign intervention
• Support for regime change by the Iranian people and their Resistance

The Resistance’s Demands

We call upon the world leaders gathered at the Munich Security Conference to respond positively to these the legitimate demands of the people of Iran:
1. Recognizing the Iranian people’s struggle and resistance to overthrow the regime and acknowledging the right of rebellious youth and Resistance Units to confront the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC)
2. Taking immediate action at the United Nations Security Council to halt the executions of uprising detainees and political prisoners and supporting the nationwide No to Executions campaign.
3. Facilitating unrestricted access to free and open internet for the Iranian people.
4. Referring Ali Khamenei and other regime leaders to the United Nations Security Council for prosecution before an international tribunal for crimes against humanity and genocide, while pursuing legal action in national courts under the principle of universal jurisdiction.
5. Closing the regime’s embassies and expelling its diplomats and operatives linked to the IRGC and the Ministry of Intelligence.
6. Severing completely the financial lifelines of the clerical regime.

Hail to freedom.
Honor to the martyrs of freedom.
Salute to your steadfastness and perseverance in the cause of liberty.
