For the second time, ‘Working Group on Arbitrary Detention’ evaluates conditions in Liberty and Ashraf synonymous with that of a prison

Following issuance of the second opinion adopted by the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention that has announced the conditions in Camp Ashraf  and Camp Liberty synonymous with that of a detention center and  in violation of  Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, Maryam Rajavi, described this opinion as the document of embarrassment for all parties who,  by deception, lies and duplicity, have imposed a forcible eviction and relocation to Liberty prison upon members of PMOIFollowing issuance of the second opinion adopted by the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention that has announced the conditions in Camp Ashraf  and Camp Liberty synonymous with that of a detention center and  in violation of  Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, Maryam Rajavi, described this opinion as the document of embarrassment for all parties who,  by deception, lies and duplicity, have imposed a forcible eviction and relocation to Liberty prison upon members of PMOI“Regrettably, all these illegal and outrageous measures have been accomplished with the aid of UNSG special representative for Iraq who distinctly acts in siding with the mullahs’ puppet government in Iraq”, said  Rajavi.
While stressing that based on this opinion, violation of fundamental rights of Ashraf and Liberty residents and turning these camps into detention centers has been referred to the relevant human rights mechanisms and organizations, Maryam Rajavi pointed out, “Liberty prison must be immediately recognized as a refugee camp with UN standards and flag and inhumane and illegal siege and all restrictions must be removed. This matter demands immediate actions by the United States, the European Union, the Secretary-General, the High Commissioner for Refugees, and the High Commissioner for Human Rights.”Iranian Resistance strongly calls on the UN Security Council to consider as basis the two specialized reports adopted by the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention of the Human Rights Council, instead of the extremely biased and void of reality remarks by Martin Kobler on November 29 to the UNSC against the defenseless refugees in Ashraf and Liberty. In its statement of 30 November 2012, The Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran declared Kobler’s shameful speech in the Security Council as “disruption and sabotage in the talks and agreements to sell Ashraf residents’ property, along with concealing the truth and evident lies, and violation of the refugees’ rights in order to secure the interests of the religious fascism ruling Iran and its puppet government in Iraq”.
