In Eternal Memory of Dr. Mohammad-Ali Sheikhi, Head of the Universities Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran

I extend my sincere condolences on the sorrowful passing of Professor Mohammad-Ali Sheikhi, a great scholarly and political figure and a valuable asset from the earliest days of the anti-monarchical revolution at the University of Tehran, to the community of professors and academics, his comrades in the NCRI and the Iranian Resistance, his family and relatives, and especially to the Chairman of the NCRI, whom Dr. Sheikhi supported with unwavering loyalty for five decades through all trials, transformations, and hardships.
The life and struggle of Dr. Sheikhi, longtime companion of Massoud (Rajavi) and one of the first members of the National Council of Resistance, whether during the years of the Shah’s tyranny, in the struggle against Khomeini’s reactionary repression, or in the revolutionary resistance following June 20, 1981, stand as a clear testament to the steadfastness and resistance of Iran’s universities and academic community against dictatorship.

Salutations to his noble and indomitable spirit, who with complete courage rose up against Khomeini’s bloody catastrophe inflicted on Iran’s universities under the guise of the so-called “Cultural Revolution,” and who, in defense of the bastion of freedom, founded the group “Committed Professors of Universities and Institutions of Higher Education.”
Dr. Sheikhi, with firm and unmistakable demarcations against both the mullahs and the Shah, and in confrontation with the regime’s agents, mercenaries, and traitors, upheld uncompromising positions. His writings and his interventions in the NCRI sessions remain brilliant and illuminating.
The loss of Dr. Sheikhi is deeply painful; yet his path of struggle, his unwavering insistence on clear demarcation from both the Shah and the mullahs, and the principled commitment of this noble and dedicated professor remain alive, influential, and a guiding light, especially for students and academics. Truly, Dr. Mohammad-Ali Sheikhi was an unextinguishable voice of protest and the quest for freedom for Iran’s academic community over the past decades.
He was a tireless defender of academic freedom and the rights of students and professors, and a representative of the progressive aspirations of Iran’s thinkers and scholars to liberate the country’s universities from the chains of reaction and religious despotism.
I extend my condolences on his passing to the Chairman of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, to his comrades in the NCRI, and especially to supporters of the Iranian Resistance and the Resistance Units, and I offer my heartfelt sympathy to his dear children.
There is no doubt that the students and faculty members of Iran’s universities, from among whom such an eminent professor arose, will carry forward his path until the overthrow of the regime of Velayat-e Faqih and the establishment of freedom and democracy in Iran.
