A Meeting and Dialogue with Mr. Charles Michel, Former President of the European Council, General James Jones, Former National Security Advisor to U.S. President and General Keith Kellogg, Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine (2025)
On Saturday, June 20, Ms. Maryam Rajavi met and held discussions with Mr. Charles Michel, President of the European Council (2019-2024); General James Jones, National Security Advisor to U.S. President Barack Obama and former NATO Commander; and General Keith Kellogg, former Acting National Security Advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, and U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine (2025).
Expressing her appreciation for the support shown by Mr. Charles Michel, General James Jones, and General Keith Kellogg for the Iranian people and resistance, Ms. Rajavi emphasized that today, the Iranian regime is weaker than ever, while the organized resistance of the Iranian people and the Resistance Units are more prepared than ever. However, she added, let us remember that this regime will neither relinquish power, nor abandon suppression, nor stop its interventions in regional countries. She stressed that recent events have demonstrated that changing this regime is only possible at the hands of the people and the resistance, and that to be rid of the evil of a religious dictatorship that has brought the world to the brink of a comprehensive war, the world must stand alongside the Iranian people.
Mr. Charles Michel, pointing to the groundless nature of the fabrications against the resistance, stated that Ms. Rajavi’s ten-point plan was a powerful program that provided a strong response to all such fabrications.
General Jones expressed his agreement with Ms. Rajavi that standing alongside the Iranian people and resistance was essential for peace and security on a global scale. Consequently, he noted that any agreement made with this regime must strictly include human rights obligations for the regime. He further added that despite substantial costs and massive investments, the international standing of the remnants of the Shah had significantly diminished, and that both the U.S. President and his Vice President had distanced themselves from this individual.
General Kellogg stated that this regime would not leave willingly and must be fought and resisted—precisely what the Iranian Resistance movement was doing. He noted that compared to a year prior when he had visited, the resistance had made immense and tangible progress, which gave him great hope for the future. He added that the likes of the former Shah’s son were incapable of accomplishing anything, characterizing him as a new Ahmad Chalabi who had nothing to offer other than being the son of a king, and emphasizing that his actions were fundamentally nothing more than propaganda and demagoguery.
