Maryam Rajavi meets with Dr. Moncef Marzouki, the First President of Tunisia after the Arab Spring
A Prominent Thinker of the Arab World
On Monday, November 10, Dr. Moncef Marzouki, the first President of Tunisia after the Arab Spring uprising of 2010, met and held talks with Mrs. Maryam Rajavi.
Dr. Marzouki said: “We and you are fighting together against dictatorship, executions, and repression, and for democracy and freedom. We stand in the same trench, united in struggle, solidarity, and shared pain.”
He added: “The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) has waged a continuous struggle against two dictatorships, the Shah and the mullahs, for sixty years, a remarkable example in world history. The members of the PMOI, whether in Ashraf-3 or those fighting inside Iran, are extraordinary people who have paid, and continue to pay, the full price for freedom.”
Dr. Moncef Marzouki, the first President of Tunisia after the Arab Spring, author of dozens of books and numerous articles, and recipient of multiple scientific and literary awards, recalled Maryam Rajavi’s speech at the European Parliament last June, delivered amid the twelve-day war. He praised her rejection of appeasement and foreign intervention, her emphasis on the Third Option, and her insistence on the decisive role of the Iranian people and their organized resistance.
Dr. Marzouki said: “Europeans should listen to you. Today, the Iranian regime is at its lowest point; this is your time to advance.”
Expressing his support and appreciation for Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan and the National Council of Resistance of Iran’s programs for the future of Iran, Dr. Marzouki added,
“When we took power in Tunisia, we realized too late how many challenges we faced, because we had not prepared sufficiently in advance.”
Maryam Rajavi thanked Dr. Moncef Marzouki for his attention and support, saying: “We have paid the price of this independence through sixty years of continuous struggle by men and women who have selflessly given everything for the freedom of their people and homeland.”
She added: “For nearly five decades, the religious dictatorship ruling Iran has committed the most heinous crimes against the people of Iran and the region in the name of God and Islam. These crimes are in blatant contradiction to the teachings of the Qur’an. The ruling mullahs in Iran are the worst enemies of Islam and Muslims.”
Maryam Rajavi emphasized: “Experience has shown that as long as this regime remains in power, the people of Iran will not achieve democracy or popular sovereignty, nor will the region see an end to war, terrorism, and instability.”
