Maintaining the PMOI in the terrorist list lacks any legal standing

Today, I have come to warn the leaders of the European Union about the consequences of the illegal decision on July 15 to maintain the PMOI in the terrorist list.

I would like also to ask them to end this disgraceful policy, which undermines Europe’s credibility.
Let me congratulate the President and all those involved on the formation of the Committee In Search of Justice.

Legal experts declared today that the decision by the Council of Ministers to maintain the PMOI in the terrorist list on France’s initiative lacks any legal standing.

This decision betrays the rule of law. In order to respect the rule of law and the views expressed by the European parliamentarians, the EU must immediately remove the PMOI from its list.

Recently, in May and June, there were several meetings between the Iranian regime and French officials. We have reliable reports that TOTAL Oil Company had lobbied French officials on behalf of the Iranian regime to maintain PMOI on the list, The reports indicate that Tehran had threatened TOTAL with not to renew its contracts.

The French government’s reference to false information and a dossier which was from the start the result of a shameful deal between the then government of France and the mullahs’ regime as justification for listing the PMOI. It helps the mullahs’ regime to continue and justify the suppression of the Iranian people. The French government must learn from the UK experience and end its unjust action.

The Iranian regime is using this label to justify the executions in Iran and through pressuring the Iraqi government to further exert pressure on 3,500 members of the PMOI based in Ashraf city in Iraq. This will lead to a catastrophe for which the EU would also be responsible. Europe must be aware that the mullahs’ regime can not change its behavior because any reform would lead to its downfall. Therefore, giving concessions to the mullahs will further embolden it.

The new IAEA report is a warning to the international community. It shows the extent to which the policy of appeasement has brought the regime much closer to the bomb and put the region and the world on the verge of a disaster.

Due to the policy of appeasement, warnings by the Iranian Resistance have been ignored. To day, I once again reiterate: To prevent the ruling dictatorship from obtaining nuclear weapons and to prevent the spread of Islamic fundamentalism there is only one solution: democratic change by the Iranian people and Resistance. All other options have reached a dead-end.

By maintaining the terror label against PMOI, the main force for change in Iran the European Union has blocked the path to a democratic change.

Today, I call on the EU governments to step aside from our path. The Iranian people and Resistance will bring about change.

Now, the European Union and its presidency, France, are facing a choice: Bowing to religious fascism and trampling on all European values for petty economic interests, or respecting the rule of law, delisting the PMOI and standing with the Iranian people and their demands for change. Through this decision, France’s presidency will be judged. Thank you very much.
