Iran: Unprecedented Savagery and Brutality – Execution of at Least 29 Prisoners, Including One Woman, from August 3 to August 6

Mrs. Rajavi: As the crises leading to the regime’s overthrow escalate, Khamenei accelerates the cycle of executions
Call for urgent action to save prisoners facing execution
Ali Khamenei, like “Zahhak,” the mythical tyrant king of Persian legend known for his cruelty and bloodshed, is accelerating the cycle of killings and executions with savagery and brutality. Between August 3 and August 6 alone, the regime’s executioners hanged at least 29 prisoners, including one woman.
The judiciary’s official news agency reported on Wednesday, August 6, the executions of Roozbeh Vadi, 40 years old; Mehdi Asgharzadeh, 35 years old; Ali Rajaei, 33 years old; Reza Sharifzadeh, 35 years old; and Mojtaba Izadi, 35 years old. The last three were executed in Isfahan.
Mehdi Asgharzadeh, who had been imprisoned in Kermanshah for nine years on charges of membership in ISIS, was executed there.
The trial proceedings and place of execution of Roozbeh Vadi, who is reported to have been arrested in 2023, remain unclear. He was executed on charges of “espionage and intelligence collaboration” and transferring information about a regime “nuclear scientist” to Israel. Vadi was a technical expert at the regime’s Nuclear Science and Technology Research Institute, affiliated with the Atomic Energy Organization. His execution came just one day after (on August 5, 2025) the regime’s criminal judiciary, in an in-absentia trial that has been ongoing for two years, charged 104 members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and the Iranian Resistance with “collaboration with the Zionist regime to martyr nuclear scientists” in a fabricated scenario.
In the unending cycle of executions, on Tuesday, August 5, five prisoners were executed: Ali Showkat, 34 years old, in Saveh; Ali Hosseinpour, 35 years old, and Mohammad Abakhti in Karaj; Farzad Yari in Malayer; and Jahanshah Iravani in Semnan.
On Monday, August 4, eight prisoners were hanged: Mohammad Golestani, 30 years old; Bahman Pirouzaei, 30 years old; Davoud Najibollahi, 40 years old; and Reza Sarparast, 30 years old, in Mashhad; Matin Shahbazzadeh, 24 years old; Hessam Moloudi, 29 years old; and Enayat Semsari, 36 years old, in Tabriz; and Hamid Soroush in Nur.
On Sunday, August 3, eleven prisoners were executed: Meysam Joudi and Sajad Pourdanesh in Karaj; Eghbal Abdali in Ilam; Hassan Ramazani, 28 years old, and a woman in Khorramabad; and five other prisoners whose names were announced in a previous statement.
In another repressive measure, IRGC Brigadier General Feyz Jafari, head of the “Public Security Police” of the regime’s State Security Force, announced the arrest of 2,129 individuals under the pretext of being “thugs and dangerous elements” (Tasnim News Agency, affiliated with the Quds Force – August 4, 2025).
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, stated: “The more the regime’s overthrow crises intensify, the more Khamenei accelerates the cycle of killings and executions to prolong the life of the clerical dictatorship for a short while. However, these heinous crimes only strengthen the resolve of the Iranian people and youth to confront the religious fascism.”
Mrs. Rajavi called on the United Nations and relevant international bodies to take urgent action to save the lives of prisoners sentenced to death, reiterating that Khamenei and other leaders of the regime must be brought to justice for four decades of crimes against humanity and genocide.
