Iran: Protest and Strike in Semirom Following the Execution of Political Prisoner Mehran Bahramian

After executing Mehran Bahramian, a 32-year-old political prisoner from the uprising, on 6 September 2025, the executioners of the clerical regime refused to return his body to his family and instead buried him secretly in Isfahan. The next day, 7 September, his family, friends, and local youth gathered at his gravesite.
During the gathering, people protested the brutal execution, chanting: “Death to Khamenei, the bloodthirsty tyrant,” “Death to the Revolutionary Guards,” “Death to informants and Basij agents,” and “We will stand and fight until our last breath.” Today, the people of Semirom—especially shopkeepers and merchants—joined the protest by closing their shops and going on strike.
Mehran, who had been arrested by the IRGC Intelligence Organization in January 2023, was a relative of Morad Bahramian, a martyr of the November 2022 uprising who was killed by IRGC gunfire.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, saluted the brave people of Semirom, especially the honorable shopkeepers and merchants who protested the execution of their valiant son, Mehran Bahramian. She declared:
“The blood unjustly shed of Mehran and other martyrs of the heroic people will not leave Khamenei and the regime’s leaders unscathed. The day is not far when they will be held accountable for these heinous crimes and brought before justice.”
