In a major gathering celebrating the Iranian New Year, Nowruz, Iranian opposition leader Maryam Rajavi said, “Last year ended with the season of uprising, and the coming year can and must be turned into a year full of uprisings. And this is going to be an uprising until victory.”
Senior Members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US Congress called on the US and EU to adopt concrete steps, including comprehensive sanctions against the Iranian regime and its expulsion from the region.
Maryam Rajavi called for the release of those arrested during the uprising in Iran on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. In this call which appeared on the website of the Council of Europe, she urged the UN High Commissioner on Human Rights to form an international delegation to investigate the deaths, detentions and disappearances during the uprising and those who have been murdered in prison.

In an official visit to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Strasbourg, France, on Wednesday (24 January), Maryam Rajavi, president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) rebuked Europe’s silence and inaction vis-à-vis the Iranian regime’s brutal crackdown and mass arrests of thousands of unarmed protesters, as well as torturing detained protesters to death.
