Addressing a Conference of European and Canadian Dignitaries and Representatives

Maryam Rajavi: This regime has taken the freedom of the Iranian people, the peace of the Middle East, and the security of the world hostage.

Honorable Representatives,
Distinguished personalities,
I welcome all of you who have come from the UK, Ireland, Canada, the Netherlands, Malta, Switzerland, Portugal and Romania.
You and your colleagues in the parliaments of Europe, the United States and Canada have started a credible policy by supporting democratic change in Iran.
In the last 40 years, the issue of Iran has been one of the most difficult problems in the world.
During this time, those who appeased the religious dictatorship have sacrificed values such as standing for human rights and firmness against terrorism and hostage taking for their economic or trade interests. They claimed that they would contain the regime, but in reality, they helped to close the way of change in Iran.
History has shown that you have supported the right and most responsible policy.

The Experience and Key Facts

After many experiences, today some important facts have become clear to the world.
For example:
• The religious dictatorship ruling Iran is the source of terrorism and warmongering in the region.
• This regime will not stop executions, torture, and oppression of women inside Iran, because if it stops, it will be overthrown.
• It will not stop its nuclear bomb-making program, because it will lose one of the guarantees of its survival.
• It will not stop warmongering in the Middle East, because its hegemony will collapse.
• It will not stop terrorism outside Iran, because it will lose its tool to blackmail and threaten other countries.
In the first week of this month, the British government revealed a terrorist operation by the mullahs’ Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) that was happening in London.
Last month, the intelligence services of the Netherlands announced that the criminal gang who attacked Dr. Alejo Vidal-Quadras, the former Vice President of the European Parliament, was receiving orders from the Iranian regime.
This regime has taken the freedom of the Iranian people, the peace of the Middle East, and the security of the world hostage.

The Solution to the Iranian Crisis

However, what is the solution?
Based on 40 years of experience, the ruling regime cannot reform itself. It will not change its behavior. A foreign war is not the solution to this problem, either.
About the current nuclear talks, as far as the regime is concerned, it is only trying to buy time. It tries to stop the activation of the snapback mechanism. It wants to slow down the growing dissatisfaction of the people by reducing the sanctions.
But can these talks force the regime to stop uranium enrichment in Iran?
Can they close down the Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow nuclear sites forever?
Can they make the regime accept inspections anytime and anywhere?
Khamenei and his allies have said many times that they will not give up the nuclear program, because the domination of Khamenei and the authority of the regime will be undermined. Otherwise, they will go under more pressure to retreat in other fields and this will lead to the regime’s downfall.
For this reason, even under pressure, the regime continues to secretly pursue and advance its nuclear program.
The real solution is the overthrow of the regime by the people of Iran and the Iranian Resistance.
On the one hand, the regime is in a situation of being overthrown. Several widespread uprisings after December 2017 showed that Iranian society has risen to bring down the ruling mullahs. The regime is not able to survive in normal conditions. That is why it resorts to terrorism, war, and especially to countless executions.
On the other hand, the force that will overthrow the regime is powerful and ready.
The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), with a progressive plan for a free Iran of tomorrow, is the democratic alternative to this regime. At the heart of this alternative is the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).
This year is the 60th anniversary of this movement’s struggle and sacrifices against both dictatorships of the Shah and the mullahs. The popular base of this movement inside Iran is one of its most important resources to overthrow the regime.
Recently, by relying on the activities of its supporters inside Iran, this movement revealed one of the regime’s secret nuclear sites in Semnan province. This revelation caused a fearful reaction from the ruling mullahs. They came under serious pressure.
This is one of the many revelations by the Iranian Resistance about the regime’s nuclear program.
In 2002, the Iranian Resistance revealed the regime’s secret nuclear sites in Natanz and Arak. Until that time, the regime had kept these sites hidden from the world.
The regime’s leaders have often attacked the PMOI because they play a central role in the uprisings and their forces on the ground are a decisive element of change in Iran.
A vast network of young, brave PMOI supporters is active in all Iranian provinces.
The Resistance Units operate daily, carrying out operations against repression.

An Organized Force with a Clear Platform

Distinguished guests,
Our plan is to establish a republic based on the separation of religion and state, gender equality, the autonomy of nationalities, the abolition of the death penalty, and a non-nuclear Iran.
The foundation of this program is the sacrifice of the forces leading this struggle.
In the fight against religious tyranny, more than one hundred thousand members of this movement have given their lives.
In less than one year since Khamenei’s new president took office, about 1,200 people have been executed. Currently, some members of the PMOI face death sentences. Many others are under torture in prisons across the country.
The ruling mullahs try to maintain their power through hanging, torture, lies, and demonization.
Members of our movement are fighting with love for freedom, willing to sacrifice their lives. This is why this struggle will succeed.
This Resistance also enjoys the support of thousands of lawmakers in Western countries.
In recent days, the majority of members of the House of Representatives in the United States expressed their support for the Iranian Resistance and its plan for a free Iran of tomorrow.
Another important development is statements by the majority of your colleagues in the Houses of Lords and Commons in the U.K., the Irish Senate, the Parliament of Malta, and the Grand Council of Geneva.
These statements are examples of a deep and responsible view toward one of the most important challenges of the modern world.
You have also stood against the regime’s efforts to demonize the Resistance. You have exposed the regime’s plots. The late Lord Corbett was always at the forefront of this struggle, and the British Parliamentary Committee for a Free Iran is today at the forefront of this struggle.

We call on Europe to take the following steps:

• Add the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to the list of terrorist organizations.
• Activate the snapback mechanism under UN Security Council Resolution 2231, and restore past UN Security Council resolutions on the regime’s nuclear projects.
• And recognize the legitimate resistance of brave young Iranians fighting the IRGC.
I am grateful for your support of the people of Iran and your efforts to support the Iranian Resistance’s solution for freedom and democracy, which also serves the cause of peace and security in the world.

Maryam Rajavi
