IRGC’s brutal attack on Sepidar and Shiban prisons kills seven prisoners

The suppressive forces’ brutal attack on Sepidar and Shiban prisoners and their families has left many prisoners killed, injured, and missing.

On March 30, 2020, the IRGC shot and killed at least seven prisoners named Mohammad Tamoli, Mohammad Lefteh, Mohammad Salamat, Ali Khafaji, Majid Zubidi, Shahin Zahiri and Seyed Reza Khorsani (Moghinemi). Many were injured in Sepidar Prison. The regime is trying to cover up this heinous crime and prevent the disclosure of the names and number of the murdered prisoners.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) called for the dispatch of an international fact-finding mission to Iran to visit these two prisons, and inquire about the number of those killed and wounded, and the general condition of the prisoners, particularly political prisoners.

On Tuesday, March 31, 2020, prisoners in the Shiban Prison in Ahwaz protested the regime’s refusal to release them so that they could avoid contracting Coronavirus. The IRGC and Special Forces raided the prison and opened fire on the inmates. Gunshots could be heard from inside the prison for several hours. According to eyewitnesses, after the darkness, some ambulances entered the prison and escorted the injured prisoners out of the prison to unknow locations.

Mrs. Rajavi urged the United Nations High Commissioner for human rights, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, and other relative international bodies to take immediate action to compel the regime to disclose the whereabouts and conditions of the detainees and wounded prisoners who have disappeared. She also called on the prisoners’ families, relatives and friends to follow up on the conditions of the captives and persevere until they are released unconditionally. The clerical regime must free all of them and this is the only way to save them from Coronavirus.
