Maryam Rajavi’s message to the demonstration of Iranians in Stockholm: European governments must condition their relations with Iranian regime on end to torture and executions

Maryam Rajavi sent a message to the demonstration of Iranians and supporters of the Iranian Resistance in Stockholm held in support of the campaign calling for justice for the political prisoners massacred in 1988.

She said, “The Call for Justice Campaign is directly related to the violations of human rights taking place in Iran, today.”

The Iranians’ demonstration was held on October 6 in Stockholm with hundreds of Iranians residing in Sweden and a number of political personalities participating.

Maryam Rajavi told the demonstrators, “The massacre of 30,000 political prisoners in 1988 is not something that history would forget. This crime is the issue of today. The issue of catastrophic violations of human rights in Iran. It concerns youths who have been blinded this year by the mullahs, and those whose hands have been cut off. Those young men and women who have been deprived of their most basic freedoms. It is related to everyday executions taking place all across the country and the thousands who are on death row. It is related to the political prisoners who are being constantly tortured and are deprived of their most basic rights.

Women are under double oppression. The whole society lives under fear and in poverty. The society is deprived of political activity and they are not entitled to free elections.”

Maryam Rajavi told the Iranian demonstrators and supporters of the Iranian Resistance, “With your campaign calling for justice, you are targeting the regime for its greatest crime.”

She also urged the people of Europe to question their governments on the reason why they continue their relations with a regime that relies on genocide to keep its grabs on power.

Maryam Rajavi also underscored the need for the UN to form an independent commission to investigate the 1988 massacre in Iran and urged European governments to make their commercial and diplomatic relations with the mullahs’ religious dictatorship contingent on end to torture and executions in Iran.
