Maryam Rajavi holds talks with US Congressman Randy Weber Online

Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), welcomed the proposal for a ceasefire and the cessation of foreign military conflict. During an online meeting with Congressman Randy Weber (R-TX), she emphasized three key points:
1. The fundamental conflict in Iran over the past 46 years has been the struggle of the Iranian people and their Resistance against the ruling religious dictatorship for freedom and democracy. This core struggle must be recognized.
2. The only viable solution is regime change, brought about by the Iranian people and their organized Resistance. Peace and security in the region are contingent upon this transformation.
3. When speaking of regime change, we are not asking for foreign military intervention or financial support from the United States or any other country.
Rajavi elaborated that the movement for regime change in Iran is led by the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and its Resistance Units. She highlighted the existence of a reliable political alternative with a clear program, a strong structure, and the necessary human resources to bring about regime change and ensure a peaceful transfer of power to the people’s elected representatives following the regime’s downfall.
Congressman Weber Affirms Support
Congressman Weber commended Mrs. Rajavi’s positions and the Iranian Resistance’s stance on the current conflict and crisis. He expressed full agreement, stating that the primary conflict is indeed between the Iranian people and their Resistance and the religious dictatorship. He affirmed that this fundamental struggle will ultimately determine Iran’s destiny, bringing democracy to Iran and peace to the region.
He underscored that the United States must recognize the rights of the Iranian people to self-determination, free from any form of dictatorship, whether monarchical or religious.
He assured Mrs. Rajavi of the bipartisan majority support for the Iranian Resistance within the U.S. Congress. Congressman Weber specifically noted that Resolution 166, sponsored by 225 members of Congress, endorses her Ten-Point Plan, which he described as embodying universal democratic values. He further added that the majority of the House of Representatives supports the rights of PMOI members in Ashraf 3, Albania, within the framework of the 1951 Geneva Convention, the European Convention on Human Rights, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, particularly regarding freedom of expression and freedom of assembly.
