Maryam Rajavi Holds Talks with U.S. Congressman Mike Lawler, Head of the Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa

Maryam Rajavi held an online meeting with Congressman Mike Lawler, Chair of the U.S. House Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa.
During the discussion, Maryam Rajavi welcomed the proposal for a ceasefire and an end to the war, stating:
“Today, everyone is convinced that the religious dictatorship ruling Iran is more fragile than ever. A ceasefire is a step toward what we call the Third Option. It means that change will come neither through war nor appeasement, but through the people of Iran and the Iranian Resistance. Today, this option is clearly within reach.
“The real war, ongoing relentlessly for 44 years, is between the people of Iran and the religious fascism that oppresses them. The clerical regime believes that sovereignty belongs not to the people, but to a mullah who claims to be God’s representative on Earth and the ruler of all Muslims worldwide.
“From the beginning, we have said that we are not asking for money, weapons, or boots on the ground. We do not want the U.S. or any other country to intervene to bring about regime change in Iran. This is the responsibility of the Iranian people and their Resistance.”
Congressman Lawler emphasized that regime change in Iran must come from the Iranian people and their Resistance. He expressed pride in sponsoring the bipartisan House Resolution 166, which supports the Iranian people in their fight to establish a democratic, secular, and non-nuclear republic.
