Iran: The staggering Coronavirus death toll surpasses 360,600

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Friday, August 13, 2021, that the Coronavirus death toll in 547 cities exceeds 360,600. The number of victims in Tehran has reached 84,746, Isfahan 24,260, Khorasan Razavi 22,585, Khuzestan 22,671, Mazandaran 14,000, West Azerbaijan 12,933, Fars 12,552, Gilan 11,845, Sistan and Baluchestan 10,625, Alborz 10,578, Qom 10,485, Kerman 9,068, Golestan 8,575, Hamedan 7,348, Central Province 7,153, Yazd 6,303, Kurdistan 5,827, Semnan 5,590, Ardabil 4,380, Bushehr 4,169, Qazvin 4,039, and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari 2,890.

While the lack of COVID-19 medicine and vaccination due to inhuman policies of the regime is a bitter reality in Iran, Ebrahim Raisi continuing the lies of his predecessor, Hassan Rouhani, claimed, today, “There is enough medicine, and the vaccination process will accelerate.” Though all doctors and experts are calling for a two-week lockdown and canceling the Muharram religious ceremonies, Raisi said, “We firmly believe that these mourning processions can have a positive effect on the psyche of society and people’s lives.”

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), said: The countless number of people killed by the Coronavirus in Iran, leaving thousands of our compatriots grieving every day, are heart-wrenching for any freedom-loving and conscientious human being. The massive death toll results from the plunder and criminal policies of a regime that only thinks of preserving its disgraceful rule and refuses to care for the Iranian people’s lives and health. Preventing the import of vaccines, refusing to pay for the minimum expenses of workers and forcing them to go to work to earn a meager living, and failing to pay the medical staff, etc., are but part of the conduct of Khamenei and his regime that have intensified the Coronavirus crisis in Iran. Only the overthrow of the mullahs’ regime and the establishment of democracy and popular sovereignty in Iran can put an end to this disaster.
