Maryam Rajavi meets with a delegation of German politicians headed by Prof. Dr. Rita Süssmuth
A delegation of German politicians headed by Prof. Dr. Rita Süssmuth, former Speaker of the German Bundestag, met Maryam Rajavi at her residence in Auvers-sur-Oise on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.
Mr. Martin Patzelt, former mayor of Frankfurt and member of the Federal Parliament until 2021, and Stephanie Bung, Vice-Chair of the Christian Democrats (CDU) in the Parliament of Berlin, accompanied Ms. Süssmuth in this meeting.
In the past ten years, Prof. Süssmuth has been at the forefront of German politicians to protect the PMOI in Ashraf and Liberty. She endeavored to get them safely out of Iraq. After their relocation from Camp Liberty, she visited Albania twice to see the PMOI/MEK in Ashraf-3.
Prof. Dr. Süssmuth lauded the Iranian Resistance’s tireless and incessant campaign against repression and executions in Iran. She added, “You are a great Resistance, and we in the Federal Parliament and the state parliaments will continue to support you.”
Noting women’s role in the Iranian Resistance, Ms. Süssmuth told Maryam Rajavi, “You and your movement have taken major strides towards women’s progress and promotion. You have helped them mature their personalities. You have shown them how to be brave and not fear of accepting responsibility.”
Mr. Patzelt also referred to the Iranian Resistance’s revelations of the clerical regime’s nuclear program. He said, “If we support your struggle it is because this is our struggle, too. You endeavor to prevent the regime’s access to nuclear weapons and this is what all the people of the world want. You have created an international front against fundamentalism and this is very important and crucial.”
Maryam Rajavi praised Ms. Süssmuth for her efforts in defense of Ashraf residents and in support of democracy and human rights in Iran. She said, “Now that the regime cannot attack the Mojahedin as it did in Iraq, it has stepped up its terrorist and demonization activities against the PMOI/MEK.”
