Iran: Protests in Shiraz and Kazerun against Power Outages

“Freedom, Freedom, Freedom,” “Iranians Will Die, But Will Not Accept Humiliation,” “Iranians, Shout Out, Cry Out for Your Rights”
On the evening of Thursday, August 21, 2025, in continuation of nationwide protests against repeated power outages, the city of Shiraz became the scene of demonstrations by enraged citizens. Thousands of furious residents of Shiraz gathered in front of the Fars Governor’s Office, chanting: “Freedom, Freedom, Freedom,” “Iranians will die, but will not accept humiliation,” “Shirazis, shout out, cry out for your rights,” “Iranians, shout out, cry out for your rights,” “Water, electricity, life — our fundamental rights,” “Honorable Shirazis, support, support,” and “Neither Gaza nor Lebanon, my life for Iran,” while singing in unison the anthem “O Iran, O Precious Homeland.” This protest gathering, with the wide participation of youth and families, quickly turned into an expression of political anger against the entire clerical regime.
At the same time, the people of Kazerun also took to the streets in protest of the repeated electricity cuts. On Thursday, August 21, similar protests were reported in Tehran, Arak, Saveh, Kashan, Kermanshah, Karaj, Zahedan, and Eslamshahr.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, saluted the brave people of Shiraz who took to the streets with the cries of “Freedom, Freedom, Freedom.” She said: as long as this criminal and plundering regime is in power, neither water nor electricity nor other basic necessities of the people will be secured. Freedom is the key to solving all of Iran’s problems. The people of Iran will not rest until they are free from the tyranny of execution, looting, and massacres, and achieve freedom.
