Charles Michel Meets with Maryam Rajavi to Discuss Iran and Regional Developments

Charles Michel, former Prime Minister of Belgium and President of the European Council until 2024, met with Maryam Rajavi in Rome for talks on the latest developments in Iran and the broader region.
During the meeting, Charles Michel offered his condolences over the execution of PMOI members Behrouz Ehsani and Mehdi Hassani, strongly condemning the act as a crime against humanity. He urged the international community to take meaningful action to secure the release of political prisoners in Iran.
Mr. Michel warned that the international community’s silence and inaction in response to the regime’s atrocities—both against the Iranian people and across the region—as well as its repeated violations of international law, pose a serious danger. The truth is, he stated, in all these cases, silence and inaction are tantamount to complicity.
Charles Michel also expressed his support for Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan and her proposed “Third Option,” stating: The position of the Iranian Resistance is entirely realistic. This regime will not be overthrown by foreign bombardment. Only the people of Iran and the Iranian resistance can bring freedom to their country.
Addressing concerns about potential chaos in Iran following the fall of the regime, Mr. Charles Michel emphasized: In addition to the presence of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) as a powerful and democratic alternative—that guarantees the future free Iran—the Iranian nation, with its rich history spanning thousands of years, cannot be compared to other countries in the region.
Thanking Charles Michel for his solidarity, Maryam Rajavi noted that the Iranian regime—besieged by internal and external crises—is resorting to intensified executions, repression, and violence to cling to power. She warned that silence in the face of human rights violations and the surge in executions in Iran not only encourages the regime to continue its domestic crimes, but also emboldens it to escalate foreign interference, terrorist activities, hostage-taking, and its nuclear ambitions.
