Call for a special rapporteur for Iran

Maryam Rajavi,  welcomed the interim report of the UN Secretary General to the Human Rights Council on rights abuses in Iran. She hopes the Council will adopt a strong resolution condemning brutal and systematic abuses in Iran and appoint a special rapporteur, which the Iranian Resistance has been calling for, for years. She also requests the referral of human rights violations in Iran to the UN Security Council.
Maryam Rajavi called on the Security Council and the EU to impose sanctions against those responsible for abuses. The interim report published on 14 March shows only part of the crimes of the regime during the period reviewed by the UN Secretary General, however, it remains silent on a number of serious violations in Iran.
Among them, there are brutal repression of demonstrations on 14 and 20 February and 1 March, arrests of thousands of protesters, arrests of many relatives of PMOI members and the Ashraf residents and their death or heavy prison sentences, jamming satellite transmissions, cutting or slowing the flow of the Internet or mobile phones, pressures and expulsion of foreign journalists or pressures and threats against Ashraf residents’ relatives in Iran.
Moreover, this report does not mention the brutal repression of the residents of Camp Ashraf directly or indirectly by the Iranian regime, as the psychological torture of people by means of 210 speakers by agents of the intelligence services of the mullahs for the lasts 14 months. Despite all these shortcomings, this report shows clearly that the clerical regime has no analogy with the twenty-first century and should be expelled from the community of nations.
