During their visit to Ashraf-3, Maryam Rajavi met with Liam Fox and Josef Jung

The former Ministers of Defense of the UK and Germany emphasized the need for blacklisting the IRGC

On Thursday, March 30, 2023, Mr. Liam Fox, who served as UK Defense Minister until 2011 and Foreign Trade Minister until 2019, and Mr. Franz-Josef Jung, who was the German Defense Minister until 2009 and former Minister for Federal and European Affairs of Hesse, visited Ashraf-3 and discussed with Maryam Rajavi the current crises faced by the clerical regime in Iran.

Maryam Rajavi explained that the September 2022 uprising has change the equations and shifted the balance of power between the Iranian people and the ruling regime, despite brutal suppression, killings, and arrests. The balance of power will never be the same as it was before the uprising.
She also highlighted that the clerical regime resorts to heinous acts in the name of Islam to maintain power, but their actions have nothing to do with Islam.

Having visited Ashraf-3, the Rt. Hon. Liam Fox expressed his gratitude and admiration for the Resistance’s Museum, which he described as extraordinary and powerful in demonstrating how the situation in Iran had deteriorated to its current state. He also praised the sacrifice and bravery of those who had paid the ultimate price for freedom.

During his discussions, Fox acknowledged the grave human rights violations that have taken place in Iran, saying, “It doesn’t matter whether the torturer is in a monarchical system or a religious dictatorship.” He emphasized the importance of blacklisting the IRGC, stating that it plays a significant role in expediting the regime’s overthrow, as was the case in other dictatorships.

Mr. Jung emphasized the need to draw the attention of the press and the international community to the devastating events unfolding in Iran. He noted that six months had passed since the Iranian people’s uprising, during which many had lost their lives and many more had been injured. He acknowledged that the struggle for freedom and democracy comes at a great cost but expressed hope that freedom would ultimately prevail in Iran.

Jung praised Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan as the foundation for the freedom-loving struggle in Iran, which includes human rights, the rule of law, and people’s sovereignty. He believed that this plan could be implemented to establish democracy and equality in Iran and should be the basis of unity for the opposition.
He stated that all forms of dictatorship, including the clerical and monarchical, are unacceptable in Iran, and the IRGC must be blacklisted, rather than reformed or repurposed, as some suggest.
