Maryam Rajavi Meets with U.S. Congressman Raul Ruiz

U.S. Congressman Raul Ruiz, a Democrat, met with Maryam Rajavi for discussions on the situation in Iran.
During the meeting, Maryam Rajavi outlined the explosive state of Iranian society, the regime’s fear of growing popular uprisings, the increasing support among young people for the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and the Resistance Units, as well as the rise in repression and executions.
She emphasized that the ruling religious fascism in Iran is weaker than ever, and particularly after suffering serious setbacks in the region, it has resorted increasingly to repression to maintain its grip on power.
Maryam Rajavi stressed that the solution to the Iranian crisis lies neither in appeasement nor in foreign military intervention, but in change brought about by the Iranian people and the Iranian Resistance. The Iranian people and Resistance have never shied away from paying the ultimate price for freedom.
Referring to the execution of PMOI members Behrouz Ehsani and Mehdi Hassani, Congressman Raul Ruiz said their courage is an inspiration to all of us, and their memory strengthens our resolve. He stressed that these executions are part of a systemic campaign by a vulnerable and weak regime designed to silence dissent, crush hope, and intimidate an entire people into submission.
Congressman Ruiz noted that he is among 227 bipartisan cosponsors of House Resolution 166, which expresses support for the Iranian people’s desires for a democratic, secular, and non-nuclear Republic and condemns the regime’s terrorism and repression.
He added that Resolution 166 acknowledges the Iranian people’s inherent right to determine their political future, calls for holding the Iranian regime and its leaders accountable for their crimes through the continued imposition of sanctions, and calls for supporting the Iranian opposition, and Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-Point Plan for the Future of Iran founded on universal suffrage, gender equality, religious and ethnic pluralism, and peaceful coexistence.
